Walk This Way at Turtle Bay

Building on the success of the past two years, Healthy Shasta presents the 3rd annual Walk This Way at Turtle Bay! We’ve expanded this year’s event to include more activities – something fun for every age! Check back often as we’ll be updating this information as details are worked out!
FREE admission to Turtle Bay Exploration Park from 9 am to 1 pm
Event Activities
- Family Fun Walk with FREE t-shirts for kids while supplies last (North end of the Sundial Bridge)
- Ropeworks – exciting and inspiring jump rope performance (Paul Bunyan’s Forest Camp)
- Rock-n-Rest Baby Friendly Area provided by the Breastfeeding Center (Museum Classroom)
- Nutrition Olympics by Shasta Coalition for Activity and Nutrition (Paul Bunyan’s Forest Camp)
- Fresh fruit and vegetable tasting (while supplies last)
- Healthy cooking demos provided by Shasta College (Paul Bunyan’s Forest Camp)
- Interactive gardening activity for kids (Arboretum Gardens)
- Health screenings (Arboretum Gardens)
- Live music by Majical (Turtle Bay Café)

Hunt for Golden Shoes & Win Great Prizes!
Watch for clues in mid-September 2008!
Healthy Shasta will be hiding Golden Shoes throughout the community, September 15th to October 4th. Shoes will be hidden in family oriented locations throughout Shasta County that support healthy eating and physical activity. Anyone who finds a Golden Shoe can turn it in for a free prize (each shoe hidden in the community has a prize valued at $200 or more!). Check back here in September for clues and prizes!
For Schools & After-school Programs: Silver Shoe Package
New this year! Healthy Shasta is offering “Silver Shoe Packages” in September at no cost to schools and afterschool programs. We provide one Silver Shoe, a small prize and general guidelines for hiding it. In exchange we ask you to hide the shoe on campus and create a unique clue (students turn it in to the principal for a prize).
